Long story short...... If an eel gets accustomed to being hand fed at the surface it will eventually come out of the water far enough to end up on the floor. PROVIDED you are fast enough to avoid being bitten. When it does it will not be happy. It will try to bite you. It will fight you. Eels are very strong even at only 2 feet.

I am enlightened.

man, my 3 foot moray does that all the time. Made me stop handfeeding.
Moray bites, even from a tiny one, are awful.

:duh:man i feel stupid for asking that i thought you were talking about freshwater spiney eels.

^^^ That vvideo is Mindboggling lol
EEls r vicious but loveable. i use a skewer with my green and he has some monster teeth i dono y any1 would handfeed him

I didn't get bit....lol

I hand fed mine smelt cause the lions would steel it if I skewered it but if I held it at the top of the water they would just sit and look at it. Of the 5 eels in the tank the fimbriated is the only eel I have that would come to the surface. With the smelt being pretty big and the eel never coming out of the water it worked to assure it was getting its fair share of food.

It was fun while it lasted........ But there's a reason this is in this section of the forum.

Beings that the eel was not injured and neither was I, I thought it was a funny learning lesson i'de share.
