i have kept my 2 eels with my puffers for years and neither have bothered with the other. but over the years the puffers have died and now i only have 1 left.

and last week one of my eels died. i now have a 20g tank with 1 figure 8 puffer and 1 8" tire track eel. i have found another home for the puffer but need to know if the eel will be ok in my community tank.

my community tank is 40g, sand base with lots of rocks and hiding places.
only problem is it is full of small fish

currently have
7 tiger barbs
7 black widow tetras
1 zebra corydora
1 red tail shark
2 dwarf loaches
4 small platties
8 harlequins

will the eel be ok? or is it going to eat everything?

i have kept it with small puffers but the eel itself was small at the time.

depends if it is a true tire track or not? the sticky will help you get a positive ID or a scientific name will help. This being true tire tracks are often times found to eat fish, I know mine does for sure. where the zig zag eel ( commonly called a tire track as well) ime is an insect eater or bloodworm, black worm, ect eater...

A true tire track at 8" and years old is severly stunted. Not only will it have a very short life span.. But also potentially a huge growth spurt if given a larger tank.

a zig zag on the other hand would be fully grown, and on the larger size I've seen of these fish.

the fact you kept 2 together for an extended period makes me think you have zig zags. They co-habitate very well generally where tire tracks do not.

If my assumptions right, then the fish should be fine together.
