My fish room
I am looking for an eel that can live in a 180 (6X2X2) for life. I prefer fairly large, aggressive and impressive looking fish. I am not totally
committed to getting an eel as I have not done much research yet. I am just looking for a jumping off point.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Gymnothorax fimbriatus fits the bill of aggressive, fairly large, and very impressive to look at. It is saltwater though

M. Dayi - Black leopard eel

M. Favrus - Patterned belly tire track

If you're lookig at spiney eels. True eels are almost exclusively saltwater. Both the species I listed will max out about 18-24" Don't have alot of "Color" but either can have really interesting and "eye popping" patterning. are on the more aggressive side of Spineys as a general rule and fit the size requirements your looking at. You could expect either species to cost approx 20$ depending on how your general areas fish priceing goes. Generally in my area they are on the mid/high range of "common" species price lists. Not cheap but fairly easy to order threw your local LFS. Majority of Spineys will be in that price range with fire eels genrally being on the high end of the spectrum. and the African lake species being the most expesnive.

Size wise most Spineys would be fine in a 180 for life excludeing the majority of Fire eels, and M. Armatus ( unpatterned belly tire track) Both of which can break the 3' mark.
