*UV will keep your water free of floating algae and some harmful parasite like common ich, UV also kill both good and bad bacteria so if your tank is new then better turn the UV off for few weeks.
**In order for UV effective and in right working condition then you would need to have a right UV bulbs (Watts) for your current water flow.
