Have you tested your water?
Yes
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?

I posted awhile back about my BP Patch having a 'stuck' egg tube. She hasn't been able to completely retract it for about 7 weeks. She hasn't laid eggs since then. Normally she goes every 2-3 weeks.

Currently her tube is "in" more since last I posted but it still is protruding. Now there's a red area on one side. I'm not sure if she irritated it or if something else is going on. Need advice. She eats normally, poop is normal. Not swimming as much as she normally does though. Pics attached.

The clean side is first. The second pic shows a reddish area on that side. Treat or monitor? She seems unaffected for the most part.

I took action today since the red area on Patch's tube got larger. I put her in a container of cooler water and epsom salt soak. Right away a large chunk of red tissue broke off her tube, and smaller debris that looks like (old?) eggs. In the picture you see she also pooped moments later. She's acting completely normal, eating and swimming both. I'm logging my action here in case someone else has a female parrot with this problem. I found an old thread of a member with a female BP with swollen red tissue and eggs that he sutured off. Patch's situation isn't that severe, but I want to catch this before it becomes a problem.

Pics of her in the container. You can see the debris. There are chunks of hard red tissue (crust) along with poop and egg particles that are orange. The plan is to treat her tank with epsom salt and sulfaplex. I gently swabbed her tube to see if anything else loose would come off. There were no other crusty pieces, but the tissue itself is red in one spot almost like a vein. Will do updates here as her treatment goes. In the third picture you can see the largest crust that broke off along with some poop and an orange egg.

She's just as sassy as ever, like 'no problem.'
