Anyone able to say if these eggs look fertilised? Female is a carpintis but the only other fish in the tank is a male Freddy and male flowerhorn who both are being allowed near the eggs but not showing any parental guarding. The flowerhorn looks a bit roughed up and female texas looks to try and entice him a fair bit.
Also didnt think it possible the freddy could x breed with a texas.

They don't look fertile, yet anyways. They turn tanish in color due to the developing embryo inside. White is the color they are fresh from mom.

thanks, half are missing now and mother looks like she has a full belly.
dilemma now is what my plan will be for the tank.. find the texas a male, single wetpet flowerhorn or try and pair up the male freddy...its a 4x2 but dont really have another tank to grow out fry

If you want to go the get a Male route. COTA has 4 to 5in Carpinitis. How big is your female?
Would probably be best to rehome the Freddy and the flowerhorn. Also I would go the breeding them on different sides of a divider. I ordered a pair, the male killed off the female overnight after two days of breeding activity. 20190320_113001.jpg20190221_130807.jpg

Little hard to see, but the eggs above are also from carpintus, and were fertile, stark white ones usually mean infertile, tan color are fertile.

It is possible for any Central American cichlid to spawn with another Central American, or even South American Heroine cichlid.
