so while i was doing a water change in my 125 gallon tank i looked down on the top of the tank to notice what looked like sand on my parachromis sp. la ceiba yellow heads log. so i thought nothing of it, but left it be... just as i turned away to go fill up a bucket, i relised eggs look that too. so i took em' under further inspection and found out my 3" female, and 5" male had about 300 eggs. i flipped!! i was so excited! so i very carefully took out the log with the most eggs on it (about 250 eggs) and put it in a bag with tank water... the eggs never hit dry air. i moved them to my 30 gallon tank that was empty at the time. my question to you guys is, was that a good idea? what would my survival rate be? and if there is any special care that convict, and brichardi fry? these fry are from my prized fish, and want my prized fry to make it!!

Make sure you moved them with the parents.
It will be interesting fry though. I have con fry right now, I always have con fry, lol. But you should keep them with their parents as they are very good. Mom has to fan the eggs. Did you put the parents in the other tank? If not I would.

the eggs hatched lastnight and have a bunch of wigglers. so it was timing really. im just really worried about my survival rate, i would probably leave them come next time if this doesn't work out for me, as here pretty soon i will going under a drastic tank swap. moving lots of fish. so we will see how it goes. any opinions?

Add an airstone and sponge filter to the tank. You really are missing out, parachromis are great parents.

i know, and im still kicking myself for it, but i was really trying to keep my survival rate up. and keep damage to my other fish to a minimul, they seem to readying to start sweeping to lay another brood. not sure how often they breed, but i have got alot of wigglers right now. next brood will stay with the parents. its really a learning experience with the parachromis fry right now, next time will be different. i won't even mess with the parents or eggs next time.

the first 2 are of dad, last 1 is of mom.
