Soooo, my severums laid eggs. Not a big clutch, maybe 100 or so. So what do i do? Its a 55 gallon and contains the pair, 2 6'' peacock bass, and a couple other 3'' severums, and 2 5'' tinfoil barbs(i know overstocke but thats not an issuse right now). I divided the eggs off from the parents and all the other fish so no one will eat them They are brown and very fertilized. What next? Is it alright i separteated them from the parents??

first, your tank is way overstocked. even dividing the eggs away wont do much good, without the parents fanning or another source of something fanning the eggs, without this, the eggs will die out, and dividing an already overstocked tank is going to be even more worse on the fish, hope for all those fish you have atleast a 180/220....

ok so i should put the parents back with the eggs? What if they get eaten??? And im moving everybody but the parents to a 155

they ate the eggs. should i add the tankmates again? how will they spawn again?

Are the parents fighting with each other?? Me personally I would find another tank for the rest of the fish and let the pair of severums have that tank...if you let nature take its course they should breed again

yeah thats what i did the others are already moved. just the pair in a 55. they are not fighting but im just wondering will the tankmates trigger breeding or make them not breed?

I think only the fish gods can answer that for you bro...ive never bred severums before...but im sure they will breed being the only 2 in the tank

If they are not fightin and actually swimming together...id say in less than 30 days youll have more fry...if severums are anything like other cichlids

ok yeah breeding it says just like any other cichlids

Then just let nature take its course and make sure the water quality is good and you should be just fine
