eheim 1262 pump owner

does anyone have problem with the pump making humming noise? i bought it brand new from marinedepot, just installed it today. it works but making constant humming noise. i tried lifting up from the bottom and the humming is still there!!! i have it submersed in the water and i can hear the hum clearly even if i close the cabinet door

If the pump is sitting on a hard surface, the humming will be more noticeable. If you are using this in a sump, try setting the pump on top of a piece of filter sponge.

oh ok, what i want to know though, is if i got a defective unit and should return it or does this happen to all 1262 pump

Howdy,

I have a 1262 powering my canister. It does make a humming noise, but my stand doors (solid pine) block it almost completely. I can't really give you decibel numbers...
