well i can get the ehiem for $100 or a rena xp3 for $75 the stock is a couple of africans nothing heavy stocked but we dont want an h.o.b cuz it looks ugly we rather have 2 tubes , right now he has an aqueon 75 but we want to swap it for a canister, but which canister is more reliable and easyer overall , currently these are our only 2 options we are leaning torwards the ehiem unless anybody chips in , we get these 2 powerful ones to beable to suck up crap from each side

i use the renas, but if the price is the same then it probably doesn't matter too much. Xp series maintenance is a breeze, but they are a bit on the fragile side if your not used to them. That being said, i have 3 Xp's running for some 5 years or so with no issues. But eheim makes a great filter....

damn i know they are both good brands , but im stuck on which to get, its the first canister we will ever use so we want it to be easy to use

I only have experience with the eheim 2215 and 2217 (the old style classics) and I much prefer my rena XP3s.

self priming (just fill it and plug it in)
more powerful
two output options (spray bar or power jet) included

that being said, I agree with the above poster: a single AC110 is more than enough for a 55g and would only have one tube as opposed to two with any canister.

but if you must have a canister, I would go with a Rena XP3 with the power jet attachment for the output.

sweet im getting the xp3 and do they sell green tubes for it , so we can hide it in the plants, the tank looks way different then it does in the pic, but we want the canister becaus eu dont have to see the back of the h.o.b

My 2026 is a beast... Eheim wins every time. They make great quality equipment... german engineering always wins. (Except the FX5... but other than that, fluval sucks).
