Eheim 2075

Con: Too much money.

I have an Eheim 2075 and it is an excellent filter. It is the only canister filter I still use (Rena XP3, Fluval 404, Magnum 350). I use it as a backup to my sump. It just sits their and does its job very quietly. I think you will be very happy with this filter.

It is a great filter BUT it isn't that much better than the other canister filters I have used. I would rate the Rena XP3 very comparable to the Eheim 2075. The only reason I still use my 2075 is that I paid way too much for it to have it just sit on a shelf like my other canister filters. Unless you can get a 2075 for close to the same price as an XP3 I would just get an XP3 (I think the prime button on the 2075 is a little better than the XP3 but that is about it.)

I have a 2075 on my 40b and it does a great job, quiet and easy to maintain. I wouldn't use it alone on anything bigger than a 55.

They are not worth the money. Eheim Classics are worth every penny. The pro series, not so much. If you want upgrade get a Classic 2217. Almost the same GPH, and they hold lots of media without the baskets so no bypass. If you feel like that is not enough, then add a HOB and it will still be cheaper than a 2075.
