After a little deliberation i ordered an Eheim 2080 to supplement my system, also use a backup if my return ever decides to go out, and also to use as when i have to have my house raised, as the livestock will be transferred to a stock tank for a few weeks.

I bought the media pack that Eheim also sells.

Anything i should know or take into consideration when setting it up for first use?

it comes assembled. there is a red check valve type thing in the output. don't touch it or mess with it. I threw some of my bio-rings that were in my old system into the media compartments of my 2075 when I set it up and after 3 days I pulled off my existing set-up and had no spike in ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate. congrats on getting the 2080. these things are bulletproof. if you have any questions I've already disassembled the head of my unit and know where all 6 pieces go. it's a rediculously simple design that works incredibly good. just make sure to follow the priming instructions properly and it should be effortless to start. make sure you wait for the whole thing to fill with water before you turn it on too. other than that... you should be good. there are a ton of people here who have the pro3 units and have had to troubleshoot before.
