I have a new Eheim 2080 with the 2 intakes and outtake in the middle.
The flow is just pretty week and I have tried everything to fix it my estimate is 200 gph.
I have it stuffed with cermedia round spheres its been running a week.
What I'm trying to do is hook up my outtake from a Rio 3100 on one of the intakes on the eheim the Rio has a large sponge on the end.
Should I use a smaller Rio like a 2500 and is this an actual remedy to this week filter impeller?
Thanks very much!

I don't have this model Eheim but if it's new to you, double check that all the seals are in place correctly, the media trays aren't over full and you haven't exceeded the maximum installation height between the bottom of the filter and the top edge of the tank.

How did you measure the output of the filter while it was running on the tank?

It's not recommended to operate the filter normally AND install a separate pump to increase flow as it could potentially allow less water to keep the Eheim impeller lubricated.

Thanks so much! I just estimated the flow watching my other Eheim pro 4 for comparison.
Good call on the Rio pump!
I figured it could mess up the impeller.
I wonder if I use a smaller Rio pump like a 2500 or even a 1400 if that will match the impeller output?
Seems to be the only way to get decent flow thru the media...

Try doing a search for Eheim Pro 3 2080 on MFK as there were a few good replies to possible issues, especially one that involved the pre-filter tray valve I think.
