OH
Oh man I took a leap and ordered an Eheim Pro 3 and Eheim media kit.... am I going to like it? haha

The online tracking says its on the local truck for delivery thismorning woohoo and its my day off so I have all day to play with it. I dunno why but the order was sent in 2 packages which both left the same warehouse on the same day at the same time. The media kit arrived days ago but the filter itself took a completely different route across the country.

This filter will be going on a 75 gal right now that is growing out a batch of young discus. At first glance it may be overkill but I hope not. This tank gets alot of heavy feedings and needs some very good filtration to keep up with water quality. It is currently filtered by 3 large sponge filters which seem to be struggling to keep up.

I don't even know if this thing is going to fit under the the tank....does anybody know? haha Its just a standard 75g pine wood stand about 2' tall.

Anyway I thought I would pop up a post here to ask for any tips/suggestions on setting this thing up? I know it comes with instructions but nothing beats hearing the experience and suggestions of those who have actually used one.

I thought maybe I read somewhere that the included hoses are just barely long enough and a person might want longer ones?

$500+ wow I hope this thing is nice haha

thx!

For that price, I'd take used!

For the extra hose, find the ID and go get get the same ID PVC reenforced hose from HD or lowes. (ID is interior diameter). The hose will look like all the other vinyl hose except it will have criscross of white stuff embedded. This will keep the hose from collapsing due to the suction. Much cheaper then anything you'll buy from the pet store, and stronger (like $1.20/ft).

It very well might not fit under, I have no idea. I know the XP4 won't fit under that size stand, my friend had to go with 2 XP3's because of it.

If you want to add bagged media to this filter the only way is to remove some substrat to make room for it?
