I have a 55 gallon tank with a aquedon model 55. Presently, a lot of plants. Not crazy about the aquedon but would alos get the Eheim 2180. The ammonia is close to 0. I was wondering that the biomedia in a 2180 would interfere with the plants? I can lower the rate of gph on the 2180 and with the media in there and two hoses the rate should be ok.Just wan the water crystal clear and great filteration. Thoughts?

I have one on a 54 gallon corner aquarium. It should be fine. I had to set the flow down about half way. Water is perfectly clear. No reduced flow yet. Probably will be able to go at least a year between cleanings considering I can increase the flow as it clogs.

No. It's not planted. I wouldn't think it'd make a difference though. I'd probably more worried about tearing leaves up due to the flow.
