Eheim 2180 vs 2262

Which do you prefer and why please. I have a 2262 already and wanting a second filter for my new tank. I'm not looking for discussion outside that please (fluval, Rena etc...). A 2080 and 2180 difference is heater in unit and could always inline a heater also. Just prefer to get heater out of tank (and no...not by sump).

Definetely 2262..

2080 and 2180 priming is sometimes a nightmare due to dual intake..2180 too much electronic..otherwise great canisters but there are sometimes flow probs..that dual intake is a bit awkward..but it really is handy because of wheels on bin and trays inside..

Still i would take 2262 instead - no complicate parts, can modify with pump, simply this filter is a beast with long successful history

I haven't used the 2080/81 filters but do like the 2260/62 series a lot. I agree with D.Wolf's comments, simple filter, endless media options and you already own one 2262 so fewer replacement parts to have on hand.

2262. But, I HAVE been very tempted by tbe integrated heater option some canisters have. I really don't like having a heater in tbe tank.

ragin_cajun then sump is better idea heater inside a canister..just one more thing that can fail and spare part isnt cheap

I did forget to add that I'm using the Hydor ETH 300 watt heater on my 2260 and 2262 filters and they have no problem maintaining temps in a 220G and 125G tank.

I was wondering about that....didn't know if it would cause back pressure on the pump since its pushing so much.

I haven't noticed any back pressure, the 300ETH has 5/8" fittings to connect to the output hoses, same as the 2260/62, and the interior of the heater is larger than the fittings.
