Hey fellow tank busters! i've done something stupid in all my excitement. I'm about to get hold of my new 8' x 2.5' x 2.5' in a couple of weeks, and in my eagerness went out and bought 2x Eheim 2180 (with built in thermals). Have i made the right choice over Fluval's top model and running a couple of standard cylinder heaters instead?
Awaiting your verdict - Eheim or Fluval ?

Eheim's are more reliable, FX5's cost less, and do a better job mechanically. Personally I don't use any fluval canisters, as they don't fit my style of filtration.

If you want the best quality, go for an Eheim, if you want something cheaper but still reliable and effective, go for a Fluval. I am using an FX5 at the moment and have to say that I'm very impressed with it, but it all comes down to individual preference and budget.

you have Eheim of course you made the right purchase :D

Eheim = reliable over the long term and many have withstood the test of time. Can't say the same for the other cheaper brands (Rena, etc)...

Ive been going mad about the arrival of my new FX5.....but truth be told, if i was rich I'd have an Eheim Pro III. They are the better make....but way more expensive. And Fluval are great value for money......apparently there is little to criticise about the FX5......

I will let you know.....!!

i was looking at the eheim therms but like most due to the money i went fluval.... quiet affordable i dont mind having a heater in my tank and they do a great job when it all comes down to it.... its kind of like buying a escalade instead of a tahoe ...eheims got those extras and that higher standard of quality....i am happy with my fluval it does everything i need it to do.... i do plan on getting some ehiem stuff in the future.. but congrats on your filters enjoy them and im sure u can talk to any fluval person and make them a little jealous
