Just received it today and I have read instructions; however, i still don't know how to use it.
1. Remove carbon pad after 2 weeks, i never use it again? So i can just throw away?
2. What are fasten hoses for, how do i use it?
3. It only came with 1 tube, how do i connect to the suction pump and suction side using 1 tube? do i cut it into half?
4. Air spray, do i do that before opening the canister? where do i press to spray?
Finally, how often should i maintain it? 6 months? Are these substrats reuseable? somewhere i saw that you can rinse and rinse and reuse them.

cut the hose in half if it came with taps cut the hose into quarters and connect it all there should be a diagram on how to setup the media do that and yeas throw away the carbon pad after 2 weeks i didnt quite understand some of what you said ask if you have any more questions

isn't it suppose to come with 2 tubes? i have 2 hoses, cut in quarters/2 might be too short.
Also is the suction pump is deformed on top, are all 2215 suppose to be like that?

It comes with a spray bar and elbow for the spray bar which is connected with small sections of the tubing you mentioned. And there should be the outlet with the strainer...

Heres a photo its worth a thousand words but you can skip the dictionary part:D

Thats on my 55 gallon old photo.

And how often you have to maintain it depends on whether you have other filters also your bio load and how much you feed... Tons of variables.

ah thanks for the picture.

Not a problem. Is it all set up and running ? I broke mine down yester day and replaced some media and I had some bio max in there and I replaced it with some more substrate pro. I really like these filters.

I have 3 Eheims on my 90G tank, and 2 on my 30G . . . I think they are great, mostly because they are very simple, but very flexible. once you get the hang of setting them up - - yeah, the first time can be tricky - - you will find that you can really experiment with media.

in my eheims I don't use anything but coars/fine filter media, which helps keep my water clear and clean. I let my plants handle the ammonia/nitrates (which are always at zero-point-zero)

the filter media can be washed and re-used multiple times, and depending on the bio-load, you can go quite a while between services. I try to do 'em quarterly, give or take . . .

you can also use different media for the intake; for example, I use sponge filters (this also helps keep the main caniseters cleaner)

bottom line: very flexible, and you can tailor it to what works for you

the substrat pro is very expensive, 2 liters for $50, are they reusable forever? and 1 more thing that gets me confused, two angular pipes, what are they for? one of them i think is to connect the spray straw, do i need to connect both ends with siphon? what about the green one that is half way cut?

Last question, after disconnecting the fasten hose, i could not connect them anymore, is it ok to just lock it up with that ring in the middle?

the EHFI pro can be used a long, long, long time . . . I'm not sure when or why you would change it, but I do know that you should never change more than 50% at a time, because otherwise you'd have to start building your nitrifying bacteria all over again . . .

also, when cleaning your filters, make sure to rinse the EHFI pro in tank water, not tap water; otherwise, you could kill the bacteria and, again, you'd have to start from scratch

the little green half-cut elbows are, I believe, to keep the bend in the hose when you put the spray-bar in the tanks . . . I don't use them anymore

I'm not sure about your last sentence, are you saying you couldn't re-connect the hoses? I'm assuming they gave you the quick release taps for your hoses (?)
