I'm looking at getting the 2217 for a 55g tank i have... i'm just curious as if the output will be too much for the tank...

thanks,
Paul

This filter would be great for your tank. I run one on a 46 gallon and it's a great filter!

To much no way :headbang2
It does make a differents in what you will be keeping.
I have a 2217(mech) and a 530gh sump(bio) on a 53g tank.

I gotta say Eheim makes the best canister filers.. I still have an old Eheim 2213 that was made in West Germany...... but its semi broken...

I recommend the Eheim 2234 model or any 2230s series.. its much more improved than the 2213s..

Also.. these canister filers are perfect for 55 gallon tanks.. I share two tanks with one of these canister filers.. probably not the greatest to share between the two... but these filters are expensive..

I have a 2217 on my 40 gal
