eheim 2217 vs 2250

other than more bio-media whats the difference? from what im reading you get 264gph for both but thats all i see. can someone educate me here. i was gonna get the 2250 but the 2217 does the same thing less money

yes i was wondering the same this but i think there diff sizes one's for a smaller tank

As said the 2250 has more media volume, hence can handle a larger tank.. in saying eheim reckons the 2217 does up to 600l, but i would certainly use the 2250 if your tank is anywhere near the 600l mark.

I would not say that 2217 does the same - it has half the media of 2250.
For bigger tanks I would definitely go with a 2250 (or better still 2260), as it would be able to handle higher bio-load.

How big is the tank you're filtering? Personally, I'd just run dual 2217s over the single 2250.
