question for an issue which I mentioned elsewhere:
The 2217s' power is real disappointing. I have one alone on a 40B & it does not even push bottom fish waste the 36 inches from one end to the other (from output to the intake) and this only has juvie fish from 1 to 3 inches now. The intake does not even pull poo inside that is sitting right near it, unless it gets kicked off the substrate.
I have full length stock hoses on it. Will cutting them shorter help? I'm looking for replies from people who've experienced actual results doing this- positive OR negative. I don't want to cut hoses for nothing, in case full length is needed in the future.
This canister does enough biological to use as an add-on for tanks which already have plenty of circulation & mechanical, but need a BB boost.

Yes I know powerheads move water & waste, but it's another plug-in too.

Thanks in advance.

Water traveling under pressure through hoses/tubing experiences friction during it's travel. Reducing the friction increases flow. When cutting the hoses, ensure you won't need elbow fittings as these greatly impact flow. Gentle arcs in the hoses provides better flow.

Thanks for the heads up oddball. any arcs now are optimal and I brushed through all tubing to make sure there were no inhibiting factors.
