so i found a guy selling me a Eheim 2217 for $50 bucks on craigslist but this is my first time buying a canister filter, is this a good price? and what should i check if i go buy it? would it filter my 120 gallon good ? please i need help.:)

I don't think it would do on it's own for a 120 gallon but that also heavily depends on your stock. I will say if it's in working condition $50 is a great price, I would be all over it, Especially if it comes with media and all of the hoses etc.. Your odds of getting a lame filter are allot less with an Eheim, they last forever.

Well however your filtering it right now, the 2217 will make a stellar addition. I would go for it. What are you using for filtration right now? I guess I should ask if your goal is more mechanical or if your having biological issues etc..? Unless your afraid of overfiltering it can't hurt right? :D

i just bought the tank currently i have the fishes in my 30 gallon one.. now im building my 120 one.. i want to filter the water to be in a good crystal clear condition ,

You should move over what you have and pick up the 2217 (assuming it's operational) and just plan on adding something else down the road if it is not keeping up. Only testing your water perams will tell. Keep an open eye on the used market for an AC110. Those two filters would compliment one another well IMO.

alright thank you,

You can not go wrong with an Eheim. The 2217 is an excellent filter. $50.00 is a steal they are $150.00 new.
