Just bought this thing used does it need any padding ontop or do you just do media eheim substrate and thats it any advice on this cool filter would be appreciated

Someone told me i need to use this filter without any padding?

Just eheim substrate in both containers?

I have filstars from rena are they just as good as eheim media. I also have an Eheim liberty 200 and lots of ac110s running can i stuff those filters with filstars and substrate?

padding but very little and carbon had one of these

bio pad bio pad bio carbon pad

The Eheim 2227 & 2229 is only for bio media. The owners' manual states no filter pads. I have the 2229 with three baskets filled with SubstratPro. It is not the only filter on my tank.

Deeda is right..... No pads at all with the wet/dry model (unlike the other Eheim canisters).

You can download operating manuals from the Eheim website.

The W/D filter is a great second filter for a tank as it is super at handling nitrification and oxygenating the water.
