All about the U
Anyone do anything spiffy with this model filter. I have three of the ones with the pump on top. I have one running right now and just got two more. Any cool mods I can do to this thing to increase performance. Also suggestion on media is always welcome

Thanks. Yea I know they are awesome filters. Just seeing if anyone did anything extra to theirs. A pump upgrade? Is it as easy as just buying a new pump and sticking it on there. Or is that a pretty big mod

Yup or you could have just started with the 2262.... Which is the same filter just with a larger Eheim pump

I recently upgraded the pump on mine, but in retrospect, I think this action was a complete waste. As VLDesign stated, "Can't mess with perfection". This couldn't be more true. Leave it alone. Put it to work. Count your blessings!!!

i have 2 eheim 2250s. thought about upping the pumps to 1260s, which would double the flow. the cost for each pump is 130 bucks...alot of dough. i still like the flow for the pumps though. better bio filtration.

i use bio-bale as bio media in both 2250s. works great. 5 liters eheim mech is in each 2250 then bio bale. thats it, nothing else.

Nice. I will now ave three of these and one fx5 running on my 300 gallon. Its major overkill but I want to make sure I have enough bio for my growing babies. I think I am going to do one mostly bio and then one pad and then half and half on the other one. These filters are awesome.

I prefer the 1262 pump to the 1260 pump for this model. For filtration media, that depends on what you intend the filter to do.
