I do like my two eheims, a 2260 and a 2250
The pumps still work perfectly, but they are not exactly what you’d call power efficient...

So I was wondering if it would be possible to use a DC pump instead?

You can install any pump you want if you can make the plumbing work.

To me, that’s like swapping the engine of a Mercedes, though, for something inferior. The Eheim pumps will run for many years reliably. That’s what people buy them for.

Yeah. I know...
Been using eheims ever since I got my first tank 35 or so years ago, never had any problems.

Quality doesn't come cheaply, be it in initial cost or in the overhead one acquires using it. This seems like a solution to a non existent problem to be completely honest.
