I wish I had done more research on how people set this filter up. I have been using this one for well over a month now, and every time I change water I have to "adjust" the filter plastic hood such that it does not rattle. This has been very frustrating experience for me. Removing the hood this past weekend took care of most of the noise, and I don't have to adjust anything now.

Since I didn't have any disconnect valves, I had to take out the outtake tube to take out the plastic filter hood.

Lesson learnt: if you can help it, don't use the 2260 hood. :)

Thanks for that. When I set my 2262 up, I left the hood off.
I was going to put it on this weekend.
Not now. You just saved me some time. Thanks!!!!

The plastic cover for my 2260 has been sleeping in the garage since day one. There was no way to get it inside my stand with that on the filter.

No problem, I just hope I had seen some setups earlier, or pics. of 2260's on MFK, to have not learned this the hard way :)

I agree -- the total height of the filter increases with the hoods on the filter. Another reason why keeping it off the filter is a good thing.
