Anyone had experience running these canisters without the intake screen on them seems to suck up the crap so much better but you think something could get to the pump through all the media, efi mech, fix,sub/pro, and filter floss which would stop most anything?

Howdy, nothing will get to the impeller - thanks to Eheim's design. However, I use these screens because it's easy to clog the intake without them. Flow is the same, just appears to be less because of the distance the screen adds. HarleyK

Thanks Harley k your thread is the reason I have the can actual have two but I need to fix one got it used for cheap missing a couple things....

How do you prevent fish from entering the suction line or getting stuck to it? While the design of the filter (pump after the media) should prevent anything from reaching the pump, it's still a great idea to install the suction screen or similar apparatus.

Deeda my fish are all big enough not to get stuck and without it my bare bottom stays spotless, going to hd or lowes this weekend gonna try and come up with a pvc or tubeing extension so the screen hits the bottom which should do the trick for what iam going for.
