EHEIM 2262 FILLING?

PICKED UP A USED 2262, I ALREADY HAVE ONE ON MY 220 GONNA ADD THIS ONE TO IT AND GO FOR STINGRAYS, MY QUESTION IS I FILLED EXSITING CAN WITH
3L EHFIMECH 5L SUBSTRAT AND 5L SUB PRO AND 3 EHFIFIX WELL ACTUALY 4L SUBSTRAT IT WAS TOO PACKED LOL IM TRYING TO FILL THIS ONE WITH THE SAME TYPE OF MEDIA BUT ONLY ITS GOTTA BE CHEAP I DONT MIND GENERIC STUFF BUT ITS GOTTA BE LIKE THE SAME, I WANT TO COMPARE IT TO EHIM MEDIA.OH SORRY ABOUT CAPS.....

It Seems like the cheap stuff adds up to about the same as eheim minus the pro but not looking for sphere type media in a can this time..... in no hurry still waiting on parts that needed replacing but any suggestions on a cheap way to fill the beast using the cheapest media but still sticking to manufactures recommendations so to speak would be helpful, thanks in advance....

Use seachem matrix instead of substrat. The other eheim medias are pretty cheap

I prefer the Eheim Ehfi Mech (5L) as the 1st (bottom) layer in my Eheim canisters. I have not found a cheaper, comparable product to replace it and still provide the debris trapping purpose it serves.

As swk stated above, Seachem matrix, I use the Pond matrix (it's a larger diameter), is a good replacement for the Ehfi Substrat & I have used it in a couple of my Eheims.

I also purchase Poret media in varying pore sizes to tweak my 2260/2262 filtering abilities. It comes in sheets that I cut to fit. I buy it online from Swiss Tropicals and it is reusable and easy to clean.
