So i hooked up my new 2262 to my 220 and this was my first water change with it. I am so impressed with this filter. I know there are a lot of FX5 fans out there but i think this is the mother of all filters.

IMO it beats 2 FX's in every catagory. Media, Flow, Power consumption etc.

I have 2 FX5's running on the same tank aswell now i'm getting tempted to switch them with another 2262.

I think 2 2262's are better than 1 2262 and 2 FX5's

Anyone second that?

I have a 2260 and 2262 on a 220G tank, on the 125G tank I have a 2260 and FX5. I'm pleased with the capabilities of my Eheim filters and wouldn't swap them for any other brand. The FX5 was a gift that I ended up installing before I got the 4th Eheim 2260.

no doubt eheim is better in many categories, but I went with the fx5 because of the value. If both filters cost the same I'd go with the eheim. the fx5 is a lot of filter at a very good price

Howdy,

I run two 2262 on my 220 gal stocked with footlong piranhas - messy eaters. Couldn't be happier. I clean my Eheims once a year, they barely drop in flow rate over that time... They're the heavy-duty Caterpillar trucks of filtration, pictured here next to a Fluval :grinyes:

Caterpillar has gone down in quality a bit. They even quit building engines for over the road trucks, because they couldn't get them to work right. I guess making that comparison is saying Eheim used to be good, but not so much now.

Lol^^^^^,
What's the price difference for you guys for the fx5 and eheims,I'm running an fx5 on my 180.and my 135.and I've never owned an eheim but I'm not convinced with the fluval and if I need to buy a big filter in the future I guess I would try the eheims, how do they compare flow wise too?

Or check out online auction sites, I've purchases three 2260's for under $150 each and some had media with them.
