Anybody have any experience with these? Good, bad, ugly. I'm about to buy one and put it in a 75g tanganyikan tank. Will this be overkill on the filtration?

I know I am biased, but this thing is awesome. Not to deter a sell, but it will be a bit overkill. It flows 900gph, so it will easily turn the water in your tank 10x in an hour. It has a spray bar, otherwise it would turn a 75 into a whirlpool :D

well i am the one who is buying it from you, i'm pretty new to fishkeeping so will it be too much, what do you advise I do about the whirlpool effect? it is recommended that i provide a strong current with the fish that i want

It has a spray bar which will cut down on the whirlpool effect. It will provide a nice current though. IMO you can't have too much filtration. Just out of curiousity what are you keeping in the 75?

Howdy,

A 2262 is a great filter - for large tanks.

Your 75 gal can be filtered with one or two 2217, for a fraction of the price of a 2262.

The 2262 is a great filter, but not for your tank. It is far too much. I had mine hooked up blowing opposite to my 2080 on a 6 foot tank, and the 2080's flow was not pushing anything compared to the 2262. These filters have an incredible flow rate.
