Today, I bought an eHeim Heater 200w for my 75g(75% of water= 50 gallons of water).
Its been running about 7 hours and I am experiencing UNDERheating.
I set it to 85F but the digital thermometer reads 80F, all my windows are closed and the room temperature is around 76F, should I set it to 90s? Don't want fish to be boiled, just want to encourage them to breed.

The thermostat setting on a heater is just a guide, adjust it based on the actual reading you're getting in your tank. I would double check your thermometer against a reliable source. Then check the temperature at several points in the tank to find an average. Also make sure you have adequate circulation near the heater by relocating it or relocating your filter output.

With the eheim heaters you need to adjust the gauge. You simply pull out the tab on the top, and then turn the temperature gauge to the actual temperature once it has settled. For example, if after a day or so the temperature in your tank is 80, but the gauge is set to 85 on the heater, pull the tab on the heater on spin the gauge to 80, and then pop the tab back in. Your heater will then be calibrated...:-)

This probably wasn't very clear at all... but you should be able to find this info on the eheim web site with pictures.

Hope this helps!
