Eheim biological media

How much of the Eheim substrate pro is needed biologically to support a 100 gallon aquarium? I have a canister filter and don't know how much to use.

It depends on your stocking level and the type of filter you are using.

I am using an fx-5 so I can pretty much use as much as I want. My tank is larger than 100 gallons but a ballpark idea would be great. The tank will be understocked if anything. A bunch of small cichlids.

I wouldn't use substrat pro in a FX5 as the smaller balls can get through the basket grids and block the impeller. The killer bio media for FX5's seems to be Seachem pond matrix but Fluval Biomax rings work well too. As for capacity fill all the baskets with it !
