I've seen comments about Eheim Classic filters where someone says their filter worked quietly for years, and then one day -- usually after a cleaning -- it starts to make a noise like a washing-machine.
well, that happened to one of my 2217s, and after a week of waiting for it to settle down, I decided to investigate
everything checked out except I noticed that the little rubber bushings on either side of the impeller unit looked worn. comparing them to brand-new bushings (I keep back-up sets for my Eheims), it was obvous they need to be replaced
long story short, I replaced both bushings, started the filter back up, and while it does have a noticeable *hummmm*, that washing-machine sound is gone
