Eheim ecco 2236 problem. HELP PLEASE!!!

Ok. Lets start at the beginning.

I bought this for my 55 gallon turtle tank. It worked beautifully until about a month ago. What happened was... I went out of town for two weeks. I came back and i heard this horrible clicking/clanking noise. I went into my room and it was the filter. I immediately shut it off.. I tried taking it apart cleaning everything and ended up sticking it in a closet for a month...

I want to get it to work for my overstocked 55 gal African cichlid setup, but whenever i turn it on it goes CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK!!!!!! The shaft isint broken or anything, i cant figure out whats going on!!! And on top of that, it wont prime either. When i push down on the handle to prime it, it does literally nothing. It sends a trickle of water into the filter and then just stops.

What can i do to fix this!?:cry:
 
Oh come on! cant anybody help me?!
 
Id say it sounds like you answered your own question. The click click could be the impellar trying to spin without being primed...
Here is where I go on a limb because ive never used an ecco canister but this may be worth a shot. Have you tried priming it by sucking on the outlet until the canister fills ?
sometimes it takes a second and then fills it self up nicely. Unless there is something blocking the inlet which may have caused the initial problem ? Worth a try.

OK... so, i tried that yesterday and it didn't do a think. kept making the sound and still wont pump water. any more ideas?
 
Ok well i guess i figured out my problem.

The impeller, the peices that MOVE the water were broken off, and i didint notice because the were so short. lol thanks guys.

I was, and i just ordered it on ebay :D thanks for your help. :)
