Hi guys. I just wanna ask if there is any expiration date of eheim ehfi mech filter media coz I recently bought 1litre of it in a lfs and it's the last stock that they have so I have no other choice. 30.05.06 is written in its plastic and this is perhaps its manufactured date. Now, I'm a bit worried that it might be expired if in any case there is and might even have an adverse effect in my fishes when installed in my eheim 2217 canister. This is the reason why still now I'm not able to finish setting up my canister. Hope you could help me out.

Thanks in advance guys! :D

There is no expiration on Eheim Ehfi mech. So long at it hasn't been crushed it should work just like new. Make sure you rinse it thoroughly as particles are produced when it is moved.

Thanks. It's body shape and still intact but one thing I have noticed is its coloration, more on dirty white and not the usual white but that's just maybe some dirt only. Well, I guess I better start setting it up right away now that I've nothing to worry about it anymore. Thanks guys! :D

Btw, one more thing. Do I also need to use a media bag to contain ehfi mech just like the substrat pro? Or it's better off without a bag?

Howdy,

I have media that's over a decade old ... no problemo!

Bagging is personal choice. Whatever you find easiest for cleaning. I only bag in my 5 gal canister. In my smaller canisters, media layers are separated by filter floss.
