So, I'm in the process of setting up a 40 breeder. It will at some point become heavily planted. For now it will house some Bolivian Rams and some of the heartier low light plant species.

I'm debating whether I should pull the trigger on the Eheim 2028 or the 2217. According to Eheim's site, both are suitable for the same size tank, but the output is greater on the 2028 (plus it includes the upgraded in and out flows). Would you spend $100 more? I currently have the 2215 and don't care for the priming, but it's quiet and easy to maintain.

Thanks,

Lamar

The 2217 filter is a work horse, and an amazing filter. The 2028 is a good filter as well. I personally prefer the 2028 to the 2217 as it does have easier setup and use.

I have owned both and agree with WyldFya go with the 2028
