All the pictures I have seen of the eheim filters, have slim line intakes/spray bars. Is that just the pictures playing tricks on me, or are they that slim? Alot easier for me to fit more filters on my tank, if they are slim.. Ie I can have the intake in the same hole as the output, if i use a spray bar up top and the intake down low... means two canisters for a normal aquarium that has holes for say the fx5.... From the pictures, it looks like you'd be able to run like 4 eheim lines for 1 fx5 line lol.... Big honkin fx5 tubes vs slim line? Anyone who owns an eheim prof 2, have the specs on the diameter of the hose?

Thanks,
Cory

Most eheim filters (all of the pro 2, pro 3, and pro 3e models) use a 16/22mm hose, which would make the outside diameter 22mm.

I'm interested to see what you guys would do. Here are the stats for the two eheim pro filters I'm looking at.

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753131

It looks like the lower end model does 86% of the filtration that the higher one does... It's only 75% of the cost of the bigger filter.

For people who have owned both. Can you tell that much of a difference? IE are they using clever marketing to make the lesser model not seem like complete crap?

I'm thinking about buying either 2 of the lower model or 1 of the higher model. I'm leaning towards two of the lesser model, unless someone has some insight more me.

The two models are the same filter, one just has an extra tray.
I second that except according to Eheim website they claimed the 2028 has a higher GPH. I owned the 2026 and 2028. There is physically no difference except for the extra media tray. You could run one 2028 or two 2026. In my opinion the 2026 is more suited to run as an secondary canister rather than a primary filter. On my 75 I have a 2028 running solo and on my 125 I have a 2026 running along side to my Rena XP3.

The pumps are different on the two filters, but that is to accommodate the larger amount of media the water needs to pass through.
