Hello guys,

i bought a eheim 2057 pro 3 g160 and i dont know if it has a faulty motor or if i am just not using it properly. at first i couldnt get it to prime properly. But i got that figured out. But now when it is full of water and both tubes are full of water is still doesnt work right. it will push water out of it for like 10 secounds at most running fine. Then after that all it doesnt move water at all. You can here the motor sloshing water around in the canister but that is all it does. Any Ideas on how to correct the problem. Or is there a issue with the motor its self. Thanks.

any one? Just need to know if i am a complete retard, or if i am missing some thing, or if i just need to send this back thanks for your time guys.

trying to empty the canister and connect back the hose. prime it again but this time let the output side hose be lower than your tank water so the water rushes out of the OUTPUT hose then use your thumb or something to stop that water rushing out of course. see if air bubble still inside the filter, and if no air bubble fizzing up of the filter it's prime properly. last plug it in and see if you still have the same problem..

Cant mess with it right now emptyed its tank to move to its set up location was just in a test spot before = new tank im seting up. any ways I actaully tried that numerous times last night what i did was close the water flow valve, take the top of the screw of top of the inlet pipe then suck manually till the inlet hose was all the way full. Put back on the inlet top. take the outlet tube of the tank place it below top of the tank, dont know for sure if it was below the water level or not thow. put it over a five gallon bucket. Then turn on the flow switch water rushed down starting it own sucking with out having to push the button. would fill the outlet tube, the filter, and the outlet hose all completly. Then plug it in. But it did still have air bubbles in the outlet and inlet tube. It would run good for maybe 10 secounds top but no more then that, then it would. guest swash water around in the filter and suck in no more water and the water from the outlet would slowly drain back in the can. Sucks im filling to the tank back up tommorrow and i will do what you said and make sure the out let is under water level. Either way This tank is getting full tommorrw I dont even need this filter it was just a treat to my self. And i bouth a hydor 300 watt inline heater to use on it that i want to use. Either way i got two ac110's for this 65. Any ideas any one please take the couple minutes to type it down for me i do greatly appreciate it.

i allso have some 5/8th shut off valves i got with my drfostandsmith order. Do you think it would do any thing to place one as far up as possible on the out let turbe and when it is priming pushing the water out to shut it off. Or would that just trap air in it. Because there will need to be atleast a 1/2 space between the shut of and the bottome of the outlet piple were it hitches for the tubing to connect them?

i guess best to call eheim tech and see what they say..

Good call. exactly what i what i did this morning. Before i sent it back were i bought it from were i got it. or had to send it to eheim to get it fixed or replaced ect. the pdf file they sent me wont let me safe the pics to show, and mfk wont let me attach a pdf. So i will explain it. on the tube for the intake that goes in the water cannot be pushed all the way to the top were it connects to the part that goes over the back of the tank. there are two lines on the tube that are only suppused to go to the bottom hole were it connects to the other piece. dont know if that makes sence to you. But it did this emptyed the canister of all the water set it back up. Then took the cap of the intake sucked and filled it full while the line shut of was closed. Put the cap back on turn the shut of on it filled up and primed in about 15 secounds with no air in the tubes plugged it in. and it works perfect. So the key to this filter is putting the intake part that goes in the water on to the part that goes over the tank in the perfect position. Tight is not allways better is this case. now about to find out if the inline heater works. Fingers crossed. thanks. for trying to help me out man.

Jeff.

mod feel free to close thread.

inlines have a indicator light telling you that if it';s on or off. just like your submersable heater..
ya i get that, weather if it turns on and gets hot isnt exactly what i was refering to. I mean more on the lines of if it is enough for this tank it's going on. It is 300 watts, this is a 65 gallon tank. but it has to raise the temp on the average 15 degrees to get it to the 80 degrees im going to run this tank temp at. This tank is going in my room which is on the secound floor. and the house i live in only has cold air vents in the floor meaning they dont have a heat pipe attached to them. Just the warm air from the first floor rises up threw the floor and the temp in my room in the cold winter here is only around 64-65 right now this time of year. im thinking the inline will only heat this tank 10 to 11 degrees. i have a 250 watt aquan stealth style heater i can use allso if need be. i traded in all my stealths for these when they started doing the melting, breaking, crap that they got ow so know for. Love these just as much. any ways this thread is getting ow so off base. And i will start a hole new set up thread for this tank in a couple weeks. thanks for taking the time to reply soupa2 no one else did.
