I'm looking at getting a pump to run a UV in a sump. The Eheim Hobby pump 1250 which is about $100 or the Danner Mag 2 $65

I'm wondering which way i should go, they both pump the about the same amount and both will work for me. I've heard they are both good pumps so I'm thinking the cheaper one? but i want it to last along time and be quite.

Also what is the differance between these any one know?

I'd go with the Danner. They last forever and are very efficient for the little wattage they use. The Danner uses 24 watts while the Eheim uses 28 watts, and the Danner is cheaper to begin with. The Danner also has a slightly slower flow (Danner = 250gph ; Eheim = 317gph) which is actually better for a UV, as contact time with the UV light is important.
Because the Danner is designed for ponds it is more heavy duty, can handle larger solids, and it has an 18' power cord which can really come in handy in certain situations.

My Danner is still going strong after years of putting it through hell.

The Pondmaster, as the name suggests, is designed for ponds. It has a stronger case, can handle larger solids, and has a longer power cord.

I would go with the Eheim their durability is legendary and will outlast the danner pump.don't get me wrong danner pumps are great (I'm actually running 5 right now) but you will run in to far less problems with the Eheim.the only diffrence between the 2 danner pumps is that the power cord on the pond pump is 18ft and the other is only 6ft the case and impeller is the same.

hmm yeah I'm still stuck for the exact reason of these two responses.

It's for a turtle tank and this is her last upgrade so i want the equient to last and be quite. Eheim seems like the way to go but if i can save some money that would be nice.

I own danners and eheims. The eheim will last way longer from my experience. If noise has any concern the eheim runs silent compared to a mag.
