Anyone currently using this? I tried to get mine going but it ended up losing suction on the intake. I put the hideous blue rena tube on and it worked like a champ? Am I missing something???

what installation kit? are you talking about the intake and return part?

Yup. Just the intake side though. I have a plexi tank with black backround and that rena tube makes me wanna barf. There must be air getting in there somehow. Another possibility I was throwing around was that the larger diameter of the eheim tube vs. the rena tube was giving the rena's pump problems.

Great question! I've been wondering this myself. I have an Ehiem 2028 and a Rena XP 4 on a gallon freshwater tank. The Ehiem blends in very well but the Rena intake sticks out like a sore thumb. I want to know if the Ehiem parts will work as well.

I guess thats the reason why the Rena's manual says 55inches max from water line. The pump seems kinda weak to me, but everything else about the Rena looks sturdy and fantastic... I just got the XP3 btw... and looking in the box I don't see why your so bothered with the intake tube.

It's well below the 55" max head. As far as the intake color....blue tube....black backround....sticks out like sore thumb...

I used black krylon plastic paint (sorry I forget the actual name) to paint the intakes on my xp3, they blend in great now.
