Yay I got my new heater for my 20 gallon! ...except it's not working...

What's the deal with these things and all of this calibration business? I have the red arrow on 85, set it on a 45 degree angle in the tank [since its only a 20 long it doesn't fit] and plugged it in. It's been a half hour and I have not seen it turn on...

Any thoughts? Or experience with these?

You need to turn the blue ring until the light turns on, so the heater keeps your water approximately at the current temperature. Then, a day later, take the tank temperature with a thermometer and adjust the red ring to the temperature the heater actually got your tank. Then adjust the tank temperature where you want it with the blue ring.

The red ring does not do anything except indicating the temperature the heater will give with the blue ring turned at a specific level. It's a matter of calibration.

Hope this helps.

Oh wow. When it was recommended to me I had no idea that'd be involved lol. Ok let me try and figure that out... Thanks!

If the heater blue ring is placed so, if turned a little more the light turns on, and if turned a little less the light turns of, then it will keep the water approximately at the current temperature. It does not mean that the temp will get to 93.

Let it that way for 24 hours and keep an eye on the temperature. Then tomorow take the tank temperature and adjust the red ring (arrow) to the right temperature.

There is a quite large manual that is included with the heater, Read it.
