Hello friends!

So I have a 200w Jager in my 90g aquarium. I bought the thing maybe 6-7 months ago and had 0 issues. A few days ago (without changing settings) the heater went from keeping the tank at a consistent 78.5° to 74.5. I tried recalibrating, even set it to 80 and it wont heat past 74.5. Is it possible Im not recalibrating properly, or is there something wrong with the heater? Iv also tried a different thermometer and got the same temp reading :(

Probably its malfunctioned, I think it has 1 year warranty so you might try to contact Jagger for a replacement. If your tank temp must keep at 78+ then best just go out and buy new heater.
Also 200W for 90G seem weak to me, shoulda use 350 or 400.

The box said up to 106g on it, i guess they over estimated the strength

I run all Jagers on my tanks 150-300w and haven't run into any problems with it maintaining temps between 82-84 degrees. ATM I have 2 75g with 200w Jagers and there at 84degrees. As YR stated its possible it malfunctioned.

Unless your house does that thing where it's 78 in the winter, and 68 in the summer like some climate challenged people I'd say it's in need of replacement. May as well do two cheap heaters and a controller for future safety. It will cost more, but if your livestock is pricey/valued it's worth it. Also i think that rating is for 2-4F over ambient temps. My 180 needs 800 watts to stay at temp in the winter with two 90 watt pumps adding heat. http://www.jehmco.com/html/temperature_controller.html
