I used to have a large tank with cudas and payaras and I was using a eheim pro 2, but the problem was it started to leak through the top so I replaced the o ring and then maybe a year later it leaked again so I replaced it with a larger eheim pro 2 and earlier last year it started leaking. I am going to be settting up a 30 gallon and I plan on using a eheim eco, but my question is is the eco less likely to leak then the professional 2 or will it even leak at all?

Get a classic. I think they are more reliable.

My Eheim pros 2 has been running for 6 yrs and no issue at all. I recommend getting the Eheim silicone spray to make your rubber seal last longer.

I've got an Eheim 2180 Pro that's many many years old and never had a seal replaced and no leaks. My only beef is that taking the head out to remove the canister for cleaning is a nightmare but other than that, it's fantastic.

If this is like anything else Eheim one would probably be better off using a gasket silicone spray by any other manufacturer for 1/4 the price. I haven't felt the need to do it yet but I'm sure they source another manufacturer to put their name on it for something like that anyway.

its not that expensive. I think it was $10 a bottle and last a few yrs. it's safe for fish and make the priming button soft like new.

Cheapest price I've been able to find on the Eheim product is over $20 to my house. I also found this food grade spray for $6. That was just the first place I looked and I'm sure I could find an even better deal if I put more time into it. It's a pretty basic product and much like Eheim's media... you pay for the name and can get just as good of a product with a different name on it. Eheim koolaid is 'spensive!

My Eheim Pro 2 had the same problem. I ended up replacing that top seal/o-ring every year until I sold it. I now have the classic which is great. Not too sure about the Ecco. Good luck.

Howdy,

I use silicone oil on all my Eheim gaskets.

Second, I only run Classic. Think about maybe getting a Classic instead of ecco.

Good luck,
