This is the model 2250, its also call the little brother of the 2260-62, basically same filter but shorter.
The filter holds 12 litres of media, the flow is 320 US gph and uses 28 watts.
Two years ago i swap pumps, retire the 1250 pump for the 1260, what I wanted to do it was to have only one canister on a 120 gallon 4x2x2, the resault its been very satisfactory, the increase to 635 gph its more then plenty for my tank.
Now two years later the 1260 pump its going to retire, nothing wrong with this pump still working strong; eheim quality last decades they make very good pumps, but i found something more friendly to use instead, and i want to give it a try.
This is the new pump for the 2250, and so far so good, its the Tunze Silence recirculation pump, they are also made in Germany same quality as Eheim.
The model its 1073.020 pushes 634gph maximun head feet 6.5 and uses 30 watts, i really like that double the flow of the 1250 for the same electricity consumption.
The modifications pretty simple, one 3/4' elbow and two 3/4' tread pipes that i got from home depot, some pvc cement and teflon tape.
The pump has a 1" and 3/4" return but i went with the eheim 16/22 which its a bit smaller then 3/4".
Initial test its been good, the pump perform its outstanding, same flow as the 1260, its not silence compleatly but quieter then 1260, but i expect that from a pump that pushes 630 gph.
I'm hoping that this pump it will stand to its reputation on the long run, Tunze its been on the market for a very long time, and they make quality products. The cost was $100 dollar here in Canada i Know in the States are cheaper, so its an inexpensive modification to a grat filter.
I also made my own diy quick disconnect for it, also simple.
In the future I'm planing to do the same with the 2260, but i havent decide which pump will be next, there is two other models 1073.040 its 800gph and uses 43 watts, the other 1073.50 this is a electronic pump with control flow from 300 to 800 gph.
There is a video on you tube about these pumps, and they compared with mag, they are call Sicce its the same pump as Tunze but i don't know if an American company buys them and rename the pump Sicce.
Here are some pictures of the modification.

Slick design there

Nice mod! So you're liking it? Had any problems?

No problems, the new pump really stand to the name, very quiet and a terrefic amount of flow for its size, my next proyect will be the 2260 with tunze 1073.40, 794gph using only 43 watts.

Nice job on the pump retrofit and the pics help alot.

Did you use the cement to attach the pipe nipple into the fitting on the canister lid or is it a slip fit using the Eheim o-ring?

I used cement to connect the two thread pvc pipes to the elbow, and teflon tape on the thread. No i did not used the eheim o'ring, don't need it, very easy modification.

A quick updated on the performance, I couldn't been any happier with the new pump, as the days go by, this pump its silent and has a big punch for its size, and the best only 30 watts. I will be posting an updated in 3 months.
