eheim pro 2 canister not starting

i got my canister set up and was about to run it, and it's making funny noises, not sucking any water in. what could possibly be wrong? it is installed correctly, checked 5 times. its the 2026 model

Is it primed? Also, is it possible you have the intake and exhaust switched?

how do i prime it? but the intake and outtake is correct, checked

Idk how to prime it, never had one. Is there any way you can directly add water to the canister?

i added water to it, myself. its full already, but i read in manual on how to prime it, you push down this big button real hard until the canister is fullm, well i did it anyways, and it overflowed lol...but it still wont start

ok well i went on emptied the canister, and put it back on, and was gonna prime it, let it fill itself up, well it wont prime now, it wont suck water into the canister, when i smash the button. anyone who has a eheim can help me maybe?

ok i got it fixed, i had to prime it 50 times. :d lots of air in it

It's easier if you fill the canister before you prime it. Then, it only takes a couple of pushes.

yeah..do i have to prime it each time i do maintenance on it?
