I just bought one for a great deal on ebay brand new for $100 bucks, then I read some bad reviews on the older model of the same filter leaking. Hopefully I got the filter made after April 2011 from what I read about.
Anybody have experience these I heard about? Anything I should look out for or do to potentially stop this design flaw leak?
I was thinking of setting it in a bucket to be safe with a small water detector alarm.

I have owned multiple pro 3 eheims. My latest reef tank ran on the same filter you have. Never had an issue with it. I had one leak years back around the primer button but it was an very easy fix and never leaked again after that.

You can pick up new o-rings for inside the head for around $25. May be worth buying

I will check it out, I got an incredible deal on this filter practically brand new just missing hoses so hopefully everything is in order!

I just got the Eheim Pro 3 it turns out that it's a later model with high serial numbers so it's the model without a leak issue, I'm so stoked on that!
Has anyone run the canister without a motor gasket? It seems to be working perfect without it and I have to order one from the UK since everywhere I checked is sold out.
I was thinking of running the pump in a plastic bin until the gasket arrives...
