So today I finally picked up my Eheim pro 3e 2078, and so far I'm very pleased with the product, other than the fact that it is filled with only 2L ehfimech, and 2L ehfisubstrat pro, which were from my pro 2 2026. The flow rate on this filter is pretty amazing, and the ability to have 12 hour cycles, or wave making, abilities is AWESOME! The auto air purge is nice as well. We will see how this filter holds up over time. Next week I have 4L of substrat pro coming, which will fill out the filter quite nicely. One thing I noticed, which will make Harley happy, is that the white mat has become much thicker, and quite a bit stronger, and tighter woven. Just for you Harley! The few downsides I see so far are that it does not come with the spray bar upgrade, nor media. My discus are loving the new movement, and soon this tank will be clear as air. This is one big filter, and one expensive filter. I'll post a review in the equipment thread in a few months after I've had time to see how it runs.

I am interested in seeing your longer term results with the filter. All of that extra makes me nervous! Sweet purchase none the less. I have the 2080 Pro 3 are nice.

im interested as well i have been considering one for a secondary filter on my ray tank

So far after only a few hours, the tank has very little in the way of suspended particulates. Water movement is very nice, and just watching the tank now, all the fish are more active. Including one of my discus attempting to attract a mate... For reef, and FO tanks, both FW and SW, the wave maker would be really cool to use. The 12 hr cycle is what I am using on my 135, and am going to have it set so that the 12 hours my lights are on will be bio, or lower flow rate, and the 12 hours the lights are off will be mech filtration.

please let us know how well it works out, i am interested in this filter but leary on the high price if it is a p.o.s. im thinking the lower flow rate at night would be better while the fish "sleep", no?

Actually I've reconsidered to having high flow during the day to remove excess food that is missed.

Bought the 2080 from F&S a week ago...DAMN it is the biggest filter I have ever seen. 12 liters of media 400 gph adjustable. Probably keep a full grown Koi alive in a 150. Although he/she couldn`t turn around:nilly:

The 2080s are actually not the same filter type. I love my 2080, but I would trade it in for 1 2078 straight across. The 3e's have some amazing features, and some things that canister filters should have been doing several years ago.

Yes I am aware of that:) ... 3 vs 3e. Bought the 3 for the media volume.
