My eheim 2028 is leaking water into the motor head. I know its not the main gasket. I just replaced the primer o-ring with the atomicrice.com o-ring and its still leaking. I think the leak may be from where the double tap connector connects to the filter. It turns out the flew meter, which is the clear piece with the ball in it, has a hairline fracture that water may or may not be leaking from. I just can't tell if the leak is coming from the hose connectors or where the primer is since I can't see in there when its on. I'm going to order a new flow meter piece and also new o-rings for the double tap but it will be a week before I get it. My question is, can I seal the entire primer section up with silicone sealant just to rule out one of the 2. I don't use that primer any way. Does anyone see a problem with me doing so? Any other recommendations or tip would be great. Thanx.

Unfortunately the eheim pro series is really prone to leaking IME. Can't recommend anything specifically, I only had one for a couple months and got rid of it.

It is almost certainly the primer seal, common leak on the eheim 2028.
Very unusual for the o rings at the bottom of the flow indicator to leak.
You say you have replaced the seal was it with a genuine eheim version oragne silicon o ring and did you folow the instructions as it is very easy to pinch the seal on reassembly and it will then still be leaking.
Have to checked the 2 o rings on base of the hose connector where it connects to the pump head as they do sometimes split and then can leak,I would be more inclined to think that these seals will leak before the flow meter seals.

Its not the o-ring on the flow indicator but the indicator itself. It has a hairline fracture on top where the hose connector connects to. I think the waters coming in from there. I did put silicone sealant on the outside of the fracture but I don't know if that helped since I can't see where exactly the leak is coming from.

I would just put the filter in a bucket or large container to catch the leaking until your replacement flow indicator and o-rings come in. I would definitely not use silicone caulk to seal the primer button.

It is also possible that you nicked, twisted or damaged the new primer pump o-ring when you reassembled the pump head. I have also replaced the primer pump o-ring on my 2028 and damaged the new o-ring and had to replace it again. Be sure to apply a liberal amount of grease when making the repair as it is difficult to lube once assembled. Which instructions did you follow for the repair, the one from atomicrice or njagc?

At first I did the atomicrice instruction and of course it pinched. I then followed another set of instructions where I removed the part of the motor that sticks out which prevents you from removing the motor from the motor head. I was then able to replace the o-ring and put the motor back in from the top which avoided the possibility of pinching. I honestly believe my primer o-ring is fine now. It does take a while for the motor head to fill up and if you have the pro II you know it starts to leak where the power chord comes out where the handles is. After about 30-45 min you can see the water filling up in the little reservoir in the handle. I think if it was the primer o-ring, the rate of the leak would be alot faster. Possibly instantaneously. So I think it has to be the house connector o-rings and the flow meter. What do you guys think?

It is probably the hairline crack in the flow indicator or the o-rings on the tap connector. Do you think that the tap connector is cracked?

Is there any way you could move the filter out from under the stand & put it next to the stand? That way you might have a better idea where the leak is coming from since you won't have to crawl under the stand to see it.

The leak is internal inside the motor head. Even if I moved the filter I still wouldn't be able to tell where the leak is coming from. There is no leak anywhere else other than where the power cord is located. And its a slow leak at that. I think I'll just wait on the flow indicator and double tap o-rings and see what happens. Thanx.

Put it inside a 10g tank in the meantime.

Mine leaked from there forever and I replaced the two O rings in the double tap and that was what did it.

I had two extra double taps and those O rings also fixed the leaks in my 2250.

I still run the 2080 in the 10g just cause I don't 100% fully trust the gasket, but if I set it up level and press the cover down it runs leak-free.

So last night I replaced the Flow indicator and also the double tap connector which included the new o-rings on it and this morning the leak was GONE!!!! I think it was a combination of the 2. I had to replace the entire double tap because I broke one of the end pieces while trying to remove the hose. It is true, That piece is very weak so be careful if ever trying this feat. I was wiggling it side to side which caused it to snap. I advise the twisting motion as not to put ANY strain on the actual end piece of the double tap.

I ordered an extra Primer o-ring just incase the leak didnt stop, which I dont need anymore so if anyone here need is I can sell it for what I paid from Trilbytropicals.com which is $15 I believe. Also this is only website I found that sold the flow indicator so if that piece is cracked at all, I would recommend ordering this piece.
