eheim pro II refuses to work!

this is the second time i've had problems with my annoying eheim pro II canister

this time, i primed the canister and all (via sucking on the output tube since priming button is not lubed and doesn't work well), but once i plug it in it doesn't work. it makes a swooshing sound like its filling up or something, but no water comes out! occasionally, it will make a small burst of water, but not much more than that. If i just plug it in, it will make this swooshing sound, and after about 5 minutes it will make a chopping sound like it does if its not primed. anyone know what I can do?

really sounds like there is air stuck in there...or that the water isn't getting to the bottom of the filter.

Try with out media?

it needs the start suction. Look at the small red pieces on top and see if it goes all the way up or not. If not you need to pour some more water in the intake tube.

Is this the 2026/2028 model filter? It's possible the short adapter piece between the top tray & pump head is not installed properly. Sometimes it gets inserted too far into the top tray and doesn't make the connection to the pump head.

Try filling the can up to the white pad before replacing the top.

I never had a problem but good things about these filters. Did you get it resolve yet? Best way is unplug it and test it in a bucket.
