So i've had my eheim pro 2080 running for about a month now, its already gone into the red on the flow indicator twice. The first time it took about 3 1/2 weeks. I noticed it was in the red, so I took it out and cleaned the filter pads, and rinsed the biomedia through tank water. Hook it back up, and its at full flow, great. Here I am two days later, and it is once again in the red already... what the heck? I have 10 4" RBP in a 120 gallon tank, I vacuum the tank a couple times a week and do 25% water change twice a week.

What the heck is causing it to clog so quickly and what should I do? I didnt expect to even have to clean the canister every month, let alone every couple days.

Maybe the intake hose is partially clogged or kinked

Good thinking, but I got it coming directly from my overflow, comes straight out the bottom of my tank into the two intakes of the filter. I dont see any obstructions.

The blue pad didnt realy have anything in it, the white pad was a little brown, but it didnt look like it was full of crap necessarily. Should I take the polishing white pad out? I got a fluval 405 for mechanical duty...

My 2080's have exactly the same problem....

I just took it apart and realized I had the white pad after the green cage, not before like it shows on the box. Maybe thats why it was premature clogging? Time will tell I guess.

i only clean my 2080s every 6 months i wouldn't pay any attention to the flow meatier

is it possible that the indicator is run by timer rather than flow rate?
it may be a daft question but maybe its eheims way to get you to buy new pads more frequently than you would otherwise.

the flow reduction is due to the white polish pad being on top of the green lattice screen. Make sre its underneath and it will go for about 6 months without needing to be cleaned. Let us know how you get on!!!
